Oil Pastel drawings - Materials

Below are basic materials you need to have for any Oil pastel drawings;
1. Oil pastel:
    Basically when i had an idea to draw, i dont know the word 'oil pastel'. I just got a box set of crayons from local stationary shop. Only when i google for drawing tutorial, i found out term 'oil pastel'. Crayons being sold in market can either be oil pastel or soft pastel or wax crayons.. Plan what kind of drawings you want to try before you get any materials. Go for oil pastel if you want to try drawings which i tried. Go for soft pastel if you want to create more abstract kind of drawings as soft pastel are much more smoother and you can blend just with fingers easily.

2. Apsara Extra dark pencil
    Normal pencil cannot be used for pastel drawings as that will not create dark black effect you need to have over layer of oil pastel. I just got Apsara extra dark pencil from local shop. You can also use Graphite 4B / 6B pencil which are basically used for sketching.

3. Whitener
    Any good whitener is enough to create some effects on oil pastel drawings.
    Alternatively, you can try white water/acrylic paints to create effects

4. Masking tape
    Masking tape is a must when you start drawing with oil pastel.
    1. It can be used to create perfect border
    2. It is required to mask certain portion of drawing to avoid smudging
    3. A4 size paper border has to be sealed with tape to keep paper in position while coloring

5. Tissue paper
    This is required mainly for blending.
    Oil pastel drawing without blending will not give proper output.
    You can refer my other post to refer on 'How to Blend Oil pastel' for various other techniques of oil pastel.
